Dan Rather on Katie Couric

Dan Rather has basically admitted that he thinks Katie Couric has dumbed down and tarted up the CBS evening news. The CBS Evening News was running 3rd in ratings when Dan Rather had the helm before he “retired”. When Katie took over, CBS Evening News quickly reassumed the 3rd ratings position. Dan’s position is that Leslie Moonves, CEO of CBS, is good at entertaining programming, but sucks at the news business. Wait a minute….we’re not the mainstream media! Let the little liberal arts graduates duke it out. I find it entertaining…..nothing else.

Republican Presidential Race Gets Tight

Well, it looks like Fred Thompson has caught Rudy Guiliani in the poles. Two poles show them statistically tied for the race. I’m beginning to think we will end up with a Rudy/Fred ticket. On the Democrat side, we’ll end up with a Hillary/Barack ticket. And I’m sorry to say, the Democrat ticket looks like it will win.

Why? Hillary is pulling “poor” single women, whose important issues include free childcare and other “free” benefits. Obama would play VP to appease Black voters. It’s a combination hard to beat.

Federal Deficit Continues To Dive

The Treasury Department said that the deficit through May totaled $148.5 billion, down 34.6 percent from the same period a year ago. Why?? Lower taxes. Watch out….the Congress is looking at raising taxes. I guarantee….if they succeed in raising taxes, revenue will decrease and our deficit will begin to rise. How many times to liberals have to see cause and effect before they accept fact as reality??

The President had lunch today with Senate Republicans to convince them to blindly pass the amnesty bill. I just don’t understand why Bush is acting this way! This is a huge bill with a lot of pork barrell spending. Why can we not seriously look at taking things one step at a time and first secure our borders? that’s what Americans have clearly stated they want! I’m beginning to think Bush is actually what they used to call a Neoliberal. He shows little concern for our opinion on this issue, he thinks we’re stupid and he arrogantly ignores us!

Iran Is Arming The Taliban - Anyone Surprised?

Today, it was publicly admitted by our Undersecrtary of State, Nicholas Burns, that Iran is supporting insurrections across the Middle East, including Afganistan. Burns, speaking in France, admitted what we have all assumed for years. Friends…this admonition is a sign that we are about to engage Iran…without offering a diamond ring.

New Spy Satellite

Israel has launched a new spy satellite that can see “bottles on the floor”. There aren’t many bottles on the floor in my house, so I question the significance of this development. But the Ofeq-7 was placed into orbit yesterday, and can supposedly identify and send high-resolution images as small as 40 centimeters. You can bet the new low orbit satellite will be targetting Iran.
