Planet Earth On Discovery HD Theater Gotta See!!

Posted by Edge on March 27th, 2007 filed in Nature

On Sunday, the first of an 11 part series on Discovery HD aired at 8:00 PM Eastern. I missed it but heard it was beautiful! That particular episisode was “From Pole to Pole”, where they try to Digg!cover earth’s nature from, you guessed it, North Pole to South Pole. I’ve heard there was a lot of animal killing animal, but the videography is supposed to be phenomenal.

Yesterday, I was able to catch another episode at 6:00 PM Eastern. This episode was “Oceans Deep”. The HD video was mesmerizing! I’d like to see another series detailing how they got these shots. Simply beautiful.

If you have a chance to catch these one hour episodes, do it. You will not be sorry. There are 3 episodes airing tonight at midnight Eastern. My DVR is set to record them. You lucky dogs on the west coast should be able to catch them live….I’ll be out like a light.

Now, I have to tell you, I’m hoping the enormity of what we’ll see in this series will help convince you that we as humans are so miniscule in the big picture of nature, that little case can be made for human’s destruction of this extremely complex world we call life. I’m hoping that you will be Digg!so touched by the beauty and complexity of nature in high definition will help you realize that it is pompous to think that only humans can have an effect on our climate.

The universe is an enormous, surreal thing. To think we can control the effects of the sun, or to think we can through enough trash into the air to block it is pomposity. So….all you self-proclaimed gods, tune in with an open mind.
